BBC

Semantic tunnels

Approach

As part of their Connected Studio initiative, BBC develop a semantic content structure for their huge archive named RES. Based on RES amplify developed a concept of journeys to compile and explore content along defined themes.

For the eduction system in the UK a prototype was build and tested. Teachers could almost effortless compose journeys for their students, to underline
a specific subject like space travel. Students would follow these journeys and, filling in multiple choice, personalize their experience around the subject. Journeys is one of the few projects where IP belongs to amplify. Central is the concept of „Semantic density“, a technology further detailed with local universities. Which can easily applied to other archives and Open Data services.
